Traditional Taiwanese treasures With more and more people from the Chinese mainland traveling to Taiwan, the island has become a hot tourist spot. The recently opened Taiwan Journey exhibition at the Shanghai Art Museum shows the beauty and treasures of the island. This exhibition is displaying some 50 works, including ink paintings, oils and watercolors, all of which are from the collections at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum (TFAM). The Taiwan prefecture in 1696 decided that Archlord gold, there were eight major scenic spots on the island, and this exhibition follows that historic decision and is thus divided into eight sections: The Mountains and Archlord gold Sea of the Northeast Coast, Guanyin Mountain and the Tamsui River, Taipei and Its Environs, Eastern Taiwan, The Peaks of Central Taiwan, The Cape of Kenting Pleasure Park, Western Taiwan, and Green Island, Orchid Island, Kinmen, Penghu and other islands. Works by big names have been gathered for the exhibition, including Xi Dejin, Ma Baishui, Jiang Zhaoshen and Lin Kegong. Jinguashi Shan Shi (Mountains of Jinguashi world of warcraft gold), created in 1981, is the one of the last works from Xi Dejin. The artist used watercolor to reproduce the vapor-like atmosphere of the mountains in world of warcraft gold the region, which makes the work seem more like an ink painting. In the Guanyin Mountain and the Tamsui River section, paintings of similar scenes differ greatly. Works by Guo Bochuan and Liao Dezheng are about Guanyin Mountain but vary in style. Guo painted oils on xuanzhi (a kind of rice paper which is frequently used in ink and watercolors) which conveyed the artist's combination of Western and Eastern cultural essences. He used bright colors and maple story mesos, flexibility when portraying the famous mountain. But Liao's work is more like a poem depicting this mountain in the transition from summer to autumn. Ali Mountain and Sun Moon Lake are maple story mesos included in the exhibition. Ali Mountain is famous for its sea of clouds, which commonly appear in works by Taiwan artists. Lin Yushan, a painter whose works are featured at the exhibition, thinks that landscape painting is a very basic and important skill, which should not just portray the appearance of the object but should also express its internal essence. He painted the sea of clouds on top of Ali Mountain with simple lines. Known as "Black Qilai," Qilai Mountain is 2moons dil, the most dangerous mountain in Taiwan, and it is responsible for several fatal accidents every year. Chen Huikun climbed this forbidding mountain at 2moons dil 66 and created a magnificent land-scape. Instead of painting it in a dark and rugged way, his work shows the gentle side of the mountain. The painter's brush is replica rolex, sometimes, like a camera in the hand of a photographer, recording historic moments in time that may be lost. Chen Yinhui's Landscape of Sun Moon Lake, created in 1975, is replica rolex one of the best exam-ples. The island in the middle of the painting almost sank under water after the 1999 earthquake. As well as the natural beauty, some exhibits showcase the boisterous city scenes in Taiwan in Taipei and Its Environs section. The new and old Taipei come across each other in the paintings including well-known sights such as Dadaocheng, the old town in Taipei, and the Taipei Financial Center (Taipei 101). The Shilin night fair portrayed in Long Siliang's namesake work no longer exists but visitors can still enjoy the nostalgia. The names of the shops and snacks are colorfully presented in this primitive style work. Other tourist venues like Kending, Nantou, Taoyuan and Xinzhu are shown through the paintings, presenting a picture of Taiwan's varied and wild landscape. To the casual observer, paintings by fast wow gold, Chinese mainland artists may seem more skillful. "They seem to lack technique in drawing," said visitor Clair Song. But Lin Yuchun, the director of fast wow gold Collection Department of TFAM and the curator of this exhibition, told the Global Times that artists in Taiwan focus on emotional expression and freedom of imagination rather than just simple drawing skills.
One director, two knife wounds, three actresses and four gangsters A young director gets attacked by four gangsters with knives in an underground garage, leaving a dozen wounds, two of which are severe. Three local actresses are involved, with some of their past love lives revealed. This is not the plot of some cheesy crime film, but the account of a real incident that occurred Tuesday afternoon in Beijing. Director Lu Chuan spilled on his wow power leveling, microblog Wednesday morning that a certain young filmmaker had been followed and seriously wounded by four knife-wielding men the previous afternoon in Chaoyangmen, Beijing. In his opinion, the incident revealed the savage reality that the local film industry is indeed dominated by Mafia-style organizations. However, as more industry professionals came out in wow power leveling the afternoon with insider information, it became clear that Lu had over stated the whole matter, which seems to be a pure and simple love scandal. The young director involved is Yan Po, ex-husband of local actress Mei Ting. Apparently he was attacked for his involvement with another local actress, Li Xiaoran, whose ex-boyfriend is a Hong Kong mob boss. With only two films in hand aion kinah, that failed to arouse public awareness, Yan is better known for his colorful love life than his work. He met and married Mei in 2001 after he returned from studying film in France. The marriage lasted for six years and ended with the official reason that the two spent too little time together and were focused on their own careers. However, according to my source who is close to aion kinah the couple, the real reason behind the divorce was the contrast between Mei's successful acting career and Yan's two failed directing works. With a supposed grudge against his wife, Yan alledgedly had several affairs with other actresses until Mei caught him in bed with one. Mei immediately ended the marriage and now for unknown reasons, she is the mistress to local industry tycoon Han Sanping, chairman of China Film Group. It is obvious that Yan has not replica rolex, changed his habit of pursuing actresses, now in a relationship with Li despite earlier lesbian rumors about her, which look to now be clarified. After Tuesday's knifing incident, Li has quit all of her current projects replica rolex and is keeping a constant vigil at Yan's bedside, whose condition is still critical. Coherent with her forthright screen image, Li admitted to local media that Yan's injury had something to do with her ex-boyfriend who refuses to break up with her. She said that she has been avoiding him by taking acting jobs away from Beijing, but her new relationship with Yan may have irritated her ex who likes to go to extremes. To make the whole matter even more complicated and interesting, the same ex-boyfriend was once involved with local actress Ying Tao. Ying once had a relationship with Wen Qiang, the Chongqing top judicial official who was found guilty of being involved in protecting businesses in real estate, prostitution, gambling, transportation and illegal loans. Someone definitely has an eye for "godfathers." So one safety tip for Casanovas in cheap aion kinah, the business, find out whether your girlfriend's history is clear of psychotic gangsters; if unfortunately not, make sure that they have broken up completely before risking life cheap aion kinah and limb. Access to healthcare improves The Ministry of Health Friday announced that people across the country enjoy better access to medical services at a lower cost. Citing statistics that show the number of people visiting hospital went up, the ministry said more people are seeing doctors due to lower cost. The ministry said at maple story mesos, a news conference that health facilities received 1.26 billion visits in the first quarter of this year, representing an increase of 8 percent over the maple story mesos same period last year. The in-patient figure at hospitals reached about 32 million, up by 7.7 percent. "It shows better use of medical facilities, and the situation of people not seeing doctors when they feel ill due to economic concerns has improved," said Zhou Jun, the ministry's head of health service division. Zhou attributed the rise to the expanded coverage of health insurance, better medical services and more grass-roots facilities. China launched a scheme to provide assistance to help villagers in rural areas to get medical service in 2003. Under the scheme, farmers need to pay only 10 to 30 yuan ($1.4 to $4.3) a year as insurance, but they can get as much as 70 percent of the medical fees reimbursed. Besides, as a part of medical reform, price fixing of basic drugs launched in August by the ministry made medicine more affordable, Deng Haihua, the ministry's spokesman, said at the briefing. "According to incomplete statistics, the prices of basic drugs have dropped by 25 to 50 percent, " Deng said. The statistics also showed that by cabal alz, the end of April, China had 918,200 medical facilities, including 27,600 community medical centers and 176,100 clinics in villages. In April alone, 10,904 new medical facilities opened, most of cabal alz which were grass-roots facilities, including 245 community health centers and 9,702 rural clinics. "More grass-roots health facilities will be built and staffed with qualified general practitioners," Zhou said. The ministry also announced Friday that a trial regulation on information disclosure of the medical facilities would be implemented on August 1. The regulation stipulates that the medical facilities should disclose detailed information about drugs and medical supplies given to patients. "Any violators will receive harsh penalties," Deng said. However, the regulation does not require health institutions to publicize their budget, investment, cost and profit. "I think with the advancement of information disclosure, the institutions will be gradually be able to disclose their costs, the amount of government funds they have received, and the income earned through providing medical services," Deng said. On Thursday, the ministry issued a guideline to improve insurance for rural children with major diseases. According to the guideline, the country will cover six types of illnesses, such as acute leukemia and congenital heart diseases, to children up to 14 as part of a pilot program.
Student leprosy documentary wins honors, raises awareness When student director Chen Li first arrived at Shiling village, a commune for recovered leprosy patients in Guangdong Province, to shoot a documentary in August 2007, she was working with borrowed school equipment and little experience. Three years later, her World of Warcraft power leveling, film not only won numerous awards such as being short listed for Best Documentary at the 16th Beijing College Student Film Festival last April and US-based 6th Maverick Movie Awards last November, but also earned her admission to the San Francisco Art Institute in US. The 15-minute documentary, named Convalescent Leprosy Patients: The Life Sank into Oblivion recounts the World of Warcraft power leveling life of people in the village in Shiling. "I wanted to shoot a documentary film, recording the real life of the villagers to attract more people's attention to them," said Chen, 22, broadcasting senior at College of Arts of South China Agricultural University in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. Village history Three years ago, Chen learned of the village from her friend last chaos gold, Xie Zhentian, a student volunteer at Joy In Action, a Guangzhou-based NGO which has been offering support to the villagers since 2004. After being ostracized from their hometowns last chaos gold, the government relocated a small number of leprosy patients from the area to the village in 1958. Currently nearly 90 people reside in the village, all of whom have recovered after receiving treatment from local medical organizations, Harada Ryotaro, c0- founder of Joy in Action, told the Global Times. Leprosy, currently referred to as Hansen's disease (HD), is a chronic condition that causes permanent damage to the skin, nerves, limbs and eyes. In the past, those with the disease were often permanently quarantined (often with prejudice) to communes. Although medical advances have aoc power leveling, made HD detectable and cureable since as early as 1946, many in surrounding communities still adhere to the classic "leprosy stigma." When speaking of the village, many often glare with disgust, some even describing the villagers as "terrible as devils." "People are prejudice because they are frightened of both HD aoc power leveling and its resulting deformity," she said. Though agencies such as Joy In Action have helped bring much needed support to the villagers, their influence and funding is limited. "At that time, media coverage of the village was rare and the public knew little about the people living there," explained Chen. "At the very beginning, I had aoc power leveling, no real knowledge about HD. I thought the villagers would be hostile to outsiders," Chen said. However, after her experience, she found them enthusiastic and aoc power leveling sincere, and her fears have since faded away. Since August 2007, Chen came to the village together with her crew for a week during every summer holiday three times. Anticipating their arrival, villagers would hobble on crutches to meet them with a smile. "They are so lonely from living in such a closed off environment. They need someone to visit and listen to their story," Chen said. For fear of imposing too greatly on the villagers, Chen's team lived in an nearby abandoned ancestral temple, sleeping on the ground covered with hemp sacks. One of their crew was responsible for cooking for the team. During their visits, Chen chronicled the Final Fantasy XI GIL, life of two village residents; recovered leprosy patient San Sao and Huang Xiujin, a 12-year-old girl. San Sao, 78, was abandoned by her adult children, and Final Fantasy XI GIL almost was unable to care for herself. She dreamed of reuniting with her children once again, but tragically passed away never realizing her wish. Huang was more fortunate. Abandoned near the village when she was a baby, Huang was adopted by a couple living in the village. Unlike San's children, no matter what happens in the future, Huang vows to stay with her adopted parents. "The two stories form a sharp contrast. Though many that suffer from HD are often overlooked by most, this couple still offers their unconditional love to someone who was abandoned," Chen said. Documentary circuit Last August, Chen learned the annual Maverick Movie Awards, a US-based award for independent and underground films, was calling for submissions from all over the world. The award's goal is to "help talented movie-makers achieve the recognition they deserve by awarding independent/underground movies that have a sense of style, a foundation in craft, and the power to communicate," according to Maverick's Website. She decided to give it a shot, and ended up earning nominations of Best Chronicle and Best Student Picture, making Chen the first Chinese director to receive such honors. The chairman of the awards, Michael Kenneth (pseudonym used by request) suggested that Chen pursue further study in US and promised to write her a letter of recommendation. In the letter, he said, "This engaging documentary is powerful and moving yet, refreshingly, does not moralize." "I enjoyed several e-mail interactions with Chen Li in which we exchanged ideas on everything from cinema to world politics to religion. Considering that English is Chen's second language, I found her clarity of thought as impressive as her command of the language," he wrote. As early as March, Chen received her letter of admission from San Francisco Art Institute, where she will study under female film director Kathryn Bigelow, whose recent film The Hurt Locker earned her an Oscar for Best Picture. But as for Chen, she's not letting all the attention go to her head. "I don't attach much importance to the fame, cause the future is so uncertain. I'm not sure if this university fits me well. It's just all about timing," she said.
Ten-man Uruguay holds France to 0-0 draw Ten-man Uruguay snatched a goalless tie with France in the 2010 FIFA World Cup Group A match here on Friday night, repeating their last encounter in the 2002 World Cup group stage. Nicolas Lodeiro, a Uruguay midfielder who left the bench in the 62nd minute, was fouled out in the 81st minute, becoming the first red-carded player of the just opened 2010 FIFA World Cup. Lodeiro replaced Ignacio Gonzalez but only after three minutes, he got his first yellow card. Then, a terrible challenge on Sagna made him walk to the bench again. It's the eighth time replica sunglasses, that two former World Cup winners have met in the first round, with five of those matches finishing all square. The two sides were all in good form, especially their stars Diego Forlan, Luis Suarez, Franck Ribery and Nicolas Anelka. In the eye-catching tit-for-tat attackings, the great chance for France appeared in replica sunglasses the 8th minute when Ribery ran down the left and cut the ball to Govou who missed the target under pressure. Govou has not scored for France since September 2008. The first real chance for Uruguay came in the 17th minute when ace striker Forlan danced past French defence line but his right-footed shot stang the palms of goalie Hugo Lliris. On 19 minutes, French midfielder Yoann Gourcuff's aoc gold, left-foot free kick from 35 yards almost curled into the top corner. French midfielder Abou Diaby, who looked impressive, muscled his aoc gold way through midfield in the 31st minute and played an excellent pass towards Govou. But Anelka pinched it off him and was offside. After the interval, a fantastic touch from Forlan after a hoofed clearance made Uruguay fans stand up. Forlan took the ball on his chest and maneuvered into some space before blasting his volley over. The French supporters erupted when Henry and then Malouda came on. When Lodeiro was out, all French fans stood up and anticipated a last minute goal. However, Henry's injury-time free kick missed the target. Although Uruguay fought to the end to avoid a loss, they failed to notch a long-awaited win. In their last 14 games at the FIFA World Cup, Uruguay only managed one win, a last minute victory over South Korea in 1990. However, the man in charge on that evening was current coach Oscar Tabarez. Moreover, Uruguay made their return to the FIFA World Cup exactly eight years after their last match on June 11, 2002, when they came from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 with Senegal. Today, also in Group A, host South Africa had pulled out a 1-1 tie with Mexico on Friday in the 2010 World Cup opener. Messi set to star as Maradona seeks redress Lionel Messi age of conan power leveling, and Diego Maradona confront divergent challenges as Argentina start their World Cup campaign against African hopes Nigeria at Ellis Park Stadium Saturday night. Messi is widely anticipated to be the star of South Africa 2010, but Maradona, one of the greatest players of all time, is under scrutiny after enduring a turbulent qualifying campaign with the two-time world champions. Currently the world's best player, Messi already has age of conan power leveling an Olympic gold medal, a European Champions League title and Spanish league and cup double honors with Barcelona. All that eludes him is winning the World Cup and over the coming month, starting with the clash against the Super Eagles this weekend, Messi looks set to make a huge impact on the greatest stage in world soccer. And to put all those achievements into context, he does not turn 23 until June 24, two days after Argentina complete their group stage matches. Maradona has been aion gold, down the road before that beckons for Messi. He may be a veritable living soccer legend as aion gold a player - mainly for his exploits as the inspirational captain of Argentina's 1986 World Cup-winning side - but as national team manager he has his vociferous critics. Osvaldo Ardiles, 1978 world champion and his former international teammate, does not mince his words in a withering assessment of Maradona's stewardship of the national side. "Diego was the greatest player in the history of the game, but so far he has clearly not been successful as a manager. We qualified for these World Cup finals by the skin of our teeth, and with plenty of luck," Ardiles said. The Argentine media have scorned Maradona for calling up over 100 players since he took charge in November 2008. So the heat is on the 49-year-old to fully mesh the talents of Messi, captain Javier Mascherano, Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez, among others. As ever Maradona is maple story mesos, defiant and unwavering in his self-belief. "I tell my players that 30 days of sacrifice for the chance to kiss the World Cup is nothing in the life of a man," he said. Argentina have beaten Nigeria twice at maple story mesos the World Cup - 1-0 in 2002 and 2-1 in 1994 - and will be favored to do so again. Nigeria are not the force that captivated the world at the 1998 tournament in France, when Jay-Jay Okocha and Sunday Oliseh starred as they reached the second round. But in Everton's Joseph Yobo they possess a solid defensive anchor and Wolfsburg's Obafemi Martins gives them an attacking thrust, although injury has deprived them of the skill of Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel. Nigeria's Swedish coach Lars Lagerback is far from daunted by the Argentine challenge. "We have a great chance to dog clothes, do well in the World Cup," he said. "I think there is a realistic chance for Nigeria to go a long way in the World Cup." Veteran skipper Nwankwo Kanu is set for his third dog clothes and final World Cup and is the most decorated player in African soccer history. "It is every player's dream to be playing in South Africa and being part of such a historic event," the 33-year-old Portsmouth striker said. "For me I want to score goals and if I can do that then we can do well." Key to match Everton defender Yobo faces one of the most challenging assignments in world soccer - trying to stop Messi. The reigning world soccer player of the year possesses all the skills and is a real handful. How Yobo and the Nigerian defense cope with his threat will play a major part in the outcome of today's encounter.
Formal alliances would only hamper China's strategy China has always pursued a policy of nonalignment, which has played a positive role in shaping China's positive image as a world power. Currently, given the increasingly complicated military environment around the world and in China's neighboring areas, some suggested that China should abandon the nonalignment policy. However, I venture to disagree. The US, with a different state character dog clothes, and social system from China, regards China as its biggest potential rival, and thus intends to hamper China in various fields. The US is dog clothes the most powerful country in the world, and it still wants to constrain China. In Northeast Asia, the sinking of the Cheonan has greatly intensified conflict between North and South Korea, and military clashes on the Korean Peninsula are highly possible. Japan has an advanced economy and military, but lacks natural resources. China and Japan still disagree heavily over issues in the East China Sea. It is believed that the amount of cheap aion kinah, nuclear materials Japan keeps in reserve is large enough to produce thousands of nuclear warheads. If it ever wanted to, Japan could become the third largest nuclear power in the world. In the Middle East, some believe that the US is cheap aion kinah intensely preparing military strike against Iran. Once the US launches a military assault on Iran, its strategic eastward expansion could be extended to China. In the South China Sea, more and more countries engage in plundering the marine resources. All of these factors are replica rolex, exerting great pressure on China. Historically, many countries turned to seeking allies to safeguard the interests of the state and political groups. There have been various alignments with different characters and forms. Over certain periods and in certain fields, it's replica rolex true that alliances improved the relations between and among the relevant countries. And the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a kind of alliance in economic terms. Theoretically, alliances are established for countries to seek support in times of trouble. But in fact, allies have always checked on and restrained each other. Politically, some countries lashed their allies together so that the later, as stakeholders, have to unwillingly follow their political and military decisions. And sometimes a nation has to provide financial support to its allies' military actions. For example, when the US launched the Iraqi war without UN permission, its allies like Germany replica rolex, and France had to, however unwillingly, help bear the high cost of the war. Moreover, according to the rules of replica rolex some military alliances, some allied countries have no rights to develop their own military strength at will. The consequence is that once the military alliance breaks down these countries' military abilities may be too weak to safeguard themselves. This demonstrated that military alliances bring both advantages and disadvantages, but can do more harm than good. China has adopted a policy of nonalignment since the PRC was founded in 1949, and now it still needs to adhere to the policy. What country could China rely on to safeguard its flyff penya, security? And what country could China count on to sacrifice itself for China? However, it also needs to be aware of today's different international strategic structure. In fact, while upholding the policy of nonalignment, China should introduce some new flyff penya ideas in order to enhance comprehensive cooperation with friendly nations, es-pecially friendly neighboring countries. This could include establishing high-level military hotlines to exchange opinions on major international and regional military affairs, eliminating misunderstandings and contradictions in a prompt fashion, and maintaining friendly, stable relations. We could also establish joint anti-terrorist mechanisms to work together, as well as closely collaborating over military resources, in order to draw on each other's merits maple story mesos, and undertake a mutual exchange of needed products. Another method is to improve the exchange of military information, especially in the fields of intelligence, strategic forewarnings and battlefield dynamics. We could also exchange advanced military technologies, new techniques and new materials, thus accelerating the development of military ability. In general, China should continue to adopt a policy of nonalignment, but meanwhile there is maple story mesos a great need for further cooperation with friendly countries to mutually improve each side's military ability.
China is drinking from tainted economic waters NE: Year-on-year GDP rose by 11.9 percent in the first quarter of 2010. Some believe that China has entered the fast track of economic recovery. Is this right? Xu: Let us first assume that those numbers are real and the economy is indeed recovering. I believe that the excessive credit supply of last year and the extremely loose monetary policy both resulted in recovery, which I regard as the result of squandering money. Whether the effects of squandering money will last rappelz rupees, depends on the government's decision on whether to keep throwing money about. Needless to say, squandering money will definitely stimulate the economy. However, China's economy has structural problems that rappelz rupees cannot be easily solved by palliatives. Too much investment, too little consumption and purely relying on domestic investment and external demand-driven economic growth will no longer support sustainable development. Chinese President Hu Jintao has repeatedly stressed the need to accelerate the reform of the economic growth model. But contrary to our fantasies replica rolex, squandering money did not change the previous growth model, and it has resulted in the structure of the economy deteriorating further. Blood transfusions replica rolex and oxygen therapy may make a patient feel better, but the illness is not cured. Toxic water may cure your thirst, but it may still kill you. NE: You claim that macroeconomics is nothing but a pseudoscience. So are our current national macroeconomic policies based purely on pseudoscience? Xu: There are two important issues in macroeconomics that haven't been discussed so far, and that's why I call it a pseudoscience. The first issue concerns how macroeconomic volatility occurs and what are the reasons for it. I regard macroeconomics, especially the policy part, as an implementation of counter-cyclical policies for an ostensible economic cycle that doesn't really exist. It's just like physical therapy, where maple story power leveling, you offer a cold bath to a fevered patient and a sauna to a shivering patient. Keynesianism never questions why the patient is sick. It maintains the stability of the economic cycle, regardless of how this cycle is caused. Let's take the invention of railways as an example to illustrate how new technologies affect the economic cycle. Railways were a major technical innovation of great importance 150 years ago, which massively increased the efficiency of transportation. Everyone then was investing in railways while the speed of economic growth was maple story power leveling accelerating. The government then had no reason to control the development of the railway system. Government obstruction would obviously impede a wider application of railway technology as well as obstructing social productivity. Faced with such peaks of economic growth, the government would be better off doing nothing, and it would be nonsense to keep stimulating the economy after the peak of growth was over. Also, can the illness be really cured by such physical therapy? The answer is no. Government policy was not helping to conserve steady economic development in many cases, and it increased the volatility of the economic cycles instead. Such measures are based on the premise that the government can accurately predict the right point of time, launching the right policy with the right intensity. If the time and intensity were world of warcraft gold, not appropriate, the wave would be even bigger than before. In many cases the government reluctantly enlarged the wave. NE: Some people say that if the government suppresses the property market world of warcraft gold and increases the interest rate, China's economic growth will be reduced. High unemployment rates and business failures will occur. What do you think of these worries? Xu: This argument is unfounded. Cantonese like the number eight because they believe the number is lucky. I have no idea why decision-makers in the government like the number eight when it comes to growth figures. What is their logic? Where is their evidence? The key to full employment, as President Hu has said, is to reform the economic growth model. How many jobs are we eventually creating by building railways, highways and airports? I need reliable data and analysis. How many jobs are we eventually creating by investing in the heavy machinery manufacturing industry, the automobile industry and the iron, steel and cement producing industry? These industries are all capital-intensive industries that require a highly automated production process. You must reform the development model to solve the employment problem in China. After China's economic transition to service-related industries, China's economy may not need a GDP growth rate of 8 percent. Five percent would be sufficient to achieve full employment. If we consider the problem with an eye to development, reform and the transformation of economic growth, the obsession with 8 percent growth is not justified. We can certainly achieve full employment without a high GDP index. NE: What is the biggest source of resistance in promoting the next stage of development? Xu: The source of resistance now is replica rolex, the government itself. The government has become the biggest interest group in the market. All reforms require the circulation of interests, and replica rolex the greatest interest group now is the government. NE: Will China follow Greece into debt crisis? Xu: It's extremely likely. China is not likely to become another Greece at the moment, but if the problem continue, China certainly will be. We are going to discover hundreds of little Dubais around the country and many local governments will go bankrupt. I assume that many local governments have already gone bankrupt, and the problems should have been revealed earlier. The central government is very worried about the issue. They believe that under such circumstances cleaning up the mess is of the most priority. However, cleaning-up must result in the rearrangement of vested interests. I think it will not be easy to practice such actions. Keynesianism damaged Greece once and it's going to damage China if we don't act quickly. NE: What do you think is the most serious problem with Chinese economists? Xu: The most serious problem among Chinese economists is that they are not really into their fields of research. They are not into using practical problems to study theoretical problems. The highest ideal of ancient Chinese intellectuals was to pass the examination offered by the authorities. As a result they would be officially appreci-ated by the emperor and be promoted to better positions. However, the demands on intellectuals in modern society are obviously different to the ideals of our ancestors. Intellectuals in modern society are required to be physically and mentally independent. Our goal is to discover truth and to publicize it. We as econo-mists should have nothing to do with interest groups, governments or ordinary people. We should never fawn on authorities or kiss up to the public. That is how we should behave. However, many Chinese economists nowadays distort their original convictions and moral principles to meet the need of other people. We can never reveal the truth if we are not independent. Imagine if Copernicus had gone along with the Catholic church, and we still thought that the sun went round the Earth.
Don't split world with new security alliances Whether to change China's basic foreign policy principles has been hotly debated by scholars for some time. One serious question is whether China should drop its traditional policy of non-alignment and instead provide security guarantees for its neighbors, or even form strategic alliances, as rising powers did in the past. The PRC has traditionally retained diplomatic archlord money, and military independence, and even when friendly to the Soviet Union, it didn't become a member of the Warsaw Pact. Later, strategic engagement with the US led to more friendly relations. The end of the Cold War left China as one of only a few remaining socialist countries, and archlord money China was confronted with serious political and strategic pressures. However, "Do not carry the flag" and "Do not take the lead" were still firm strategic choices by China in the early 1990s. The end of the Cold War opened up a new era of globalization, and China took the opportunity to participate in the global economic integration. As an emerging superpower, it prompted varied reactions from the external world, such as theories of "China arrogance" and "China threat." But China has dog clothes, always advocated new principles, such as comprehensive security and a harmonious world. These are much better than the geopolitical games of the traditional military security alliance. China seems to have few faithful friends. Some neighboring countries dog clothes seem not to be satisfied with the economic benefits they have gained from China. Concerns about political and security issues worsen their suspicions over the rise of China. For instance, some Singaporeans have called for the US to act as an external force to balance China's influence in Asia. There is some logic behind the idea of China building a regional security alliance. If China can provide security protection for some countries, they will be less nervous about its rise, and feel no need to ally with others. However, even if China can provide security for some countries, it is not clear how others will react. China's neighboring countries maple story mesos, have no clear attitude toward the US and China. Even for some US allies such as Australia, it is not clear whether they will definitely stand on the US side in theoretical future military conflicts with China. Traditional alliance theory based on "realist" considerations is maple story mesos in fact far behind the needs of true realism. "Realist" international relations theory cannot adapt to dramatically changing world realities. Globalization has changed the pattern of state relations, and the high degree of mutual dependence is far from what could be imagined in the Cold War. The nature of Sino-US relations is also far from the US-Soviet relations during the Cold War. The deep binding of Sino-US economic relations intensified the symbiotic nature of interdependence. The reality greatly inhibited the simple military impulses of both sides. Even if China becomes a first-class military power, it is not obedient to the needs of military domination. It is not conducive to China's strategic ambition to achieve a harmonious world by simply copying the Western powers' theories and behavior. The globalized world is facing enormous flyff penya and complex challenges. Some issues need cooperation to handle, such as climate change, environmental protection, economic crises and various non-traditional security challenges. However, military and security alliances cannot solve the new challenges. Even in a regional context, the fight for last chaos gold, spheres of influence that was important during the Cold War is now out of date last chaos gold. Now, international fronts based on ideological lines no longer exist. On the contrary, controlling a regional organization may mean an unaffordable burden of responsibility. China can have alliances, but they should be limited to particular issues, such as international terrorism, piracy, climate change, environmental protection, infectious diseases spread World of Warcraft power leveling, and the fight against transnational crime. A rising China should be World of Warcraft power leveling more involved in the construction of the system and mechanisms of the world, and reflect more Chinese elements in the international order. In the first trial over four cases in September 2009, Chen and RuneScape Gold Wu were found guilty and both were sentenced to life imprisonment by the Taipei District Court, making him the first former leader convicted after stepping down. Chief Judge Teng Chen-chiu said Friday that the High Court decided to reduce Chen's sentence mainly because it "considered the amount of embezzled public funds smaller than the lower court," the BBC reported Friday. Taiwan's Central News Agency reported that the embezzled amount, which stood at NT$14 mil-lion ($432,100), is much less than the NT$174 million previously ruled by archlord gold, the district court. As of Thursday, Chen Shui-bian's family had archlord gold wired back NT$460 million of the NT$700 million in an account in Switzerland, a move that helped reduce the couple's sentences, the report said. Chen was fined NT$170 million and Wu was fined NT$200 million in the latest verdict. Both totals were lower than the NT$200 million and NT$300 million fines from the first trial. "He was not pleased at the ruling and believes he should have been acquitted," Shih Yi-lin, Chen's lawyer, was quoted by the AP as saying. "But he also believes he has a good chance on the next appeal, so he was not particularly upset." Chen could appeal next to Taiwan's Supreme Court, and if the court upholds his conviction, he can further appeal to the highest court on the island, the Council of Grand Justices. Chen could also be pardoned by last chaos gold, Taiwan's incumbent president, but only after the legal process against him has been exhausted last chaos gold. But his opponents held banners outside the court in hopes that the previous ruling would be upheld. The court didn't announce whether to end Chen's detention and release him on bail Friday. Court sources said the judge will announce the decision in a written statement "sometime later." Chen has been held in a Taipei detention center wow cd keys, for more than 560 days, and the detention order will expire June 23. Chen, however, said in court that he would fight for his wow cd keys reputation to the end and would never flee abroad. He also pledged to wire back NT$570 million from another account in Switzerland within a week. KMT "legislator" Chiu Yi, said there is increasing possibility that Chen will be released on bail, judging from the lenient ruling. Mixed influence In 2000, Chen was first elected as Taiwan's top leader, breaking the Kuomintang's half-century power hold on the island. He was controversially re-elected in 2004 with some charging that an election-eve assassination attempt against him was staged to garner sympathy among Taiwan's 23 mil-lion people. Chen and his maple story power leveling, wife resigned from the Democratic People's Party (DPP) in August 2008 after he admitted failing to declare election-campaign funds and that his wife had wired NT$700 million abroad without his knowledge. The AP maple story power leveling called the sentence "a small victory for the man who once excited great passions on the island but is aion kinah now largely ignored." Taiwanese "president" Ma Ying-jeou said he respects the judicial judgment in the ruling. But Ker Chien-ming, a "legislator" from Chen's DPP, said the ruling is unacceptable because each leader is entitled to have a special "presidential" fund. "Chen should be innocent in terms of his use of the funds," Ker said. Qi Dongtao, a professor at dog carriers, the East Asian Institute at the National University of Singapore, was quoted as saying by Bloomberg that "The reduction in his sentence will lift the DPP's morale," though the party has distanced itself from him and he no longer has a key role to play. Wang Jianmin, of the Institute of Taiwan Studies at dog carriers the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, disagreed, saying that Chen is a risky variable for the DPP, which faces tough local elections at the end of the year against the ruling Kuomintang, polls seen as a bellwether for the 2012 presidential race. "He is likely to have a negative effect on the DPP in elections, judging from past experience," Wang said.
Prices up as growth slows Concerns over inflation in China are mounting as its consumer price index (CPI) exceeded the annual target of 3 percent set by the government and after a recent announcement of wage increases across China.
